EDucation ToGoBox

My mom, who is a teacher, helps me research great online resources that are appropriate for learning at home. ED to-go-box is not just another page with links to computer games. Instead, it is an extension of school.

When my brother had to do an animal report for Kindergarten, my mom and I looked at each other and shrugged. She had no time to go to the library and sift through animal books looking for ones that were easy enough for my brother to read. She helped me look online. It took hours to find information that was appropriate for a 5-year-old. Many sites were about how manatee populations were dying from fishing boats. That was too sad. Other sites, like wikipedia.org were full of tons of information, but not always accurate or appropriate for little eyes. After two nights of research, we pulled together a great collection of videos, pictures, writing aides and sounds that made everyone excited about the report!

I even went to my brother’s presentation and when the kids asked him hard questions, he had enough background information to answer them without teacher help! I’m a proud big sissy. And now I’m going to put my blogging skills to work!
